The timing of granitoid magmatism in the Northern Kibaran Belt
with Michael Wingate, Tack, L., Fernandez-Alonso, M., Meert, J., Tahon, A.
This study focuses on the bimodal felsic and (ultra) mafic intrusive magmatism of the Northern Kibaran Belt and its relation to the Kibaran compressional event(s). New SHRIMP and Ar/Ar data on critical rocks are presented, and implications of these data with respect to prevailing views on the evolution of the NKB are discussed in the light of complementary evidence from a number of recently published papers. Moreover, the new data for the Northern Kibaran Belt is compared with, and complements recent zircon U-Pb SHRIMP dating from the Kibaran Belt s.s. (Kokonyangi et al., 2004a, b), thereby providing a regional appreciation of the timing of events in the Kibaran belt as a whole.
