The Timing and Nature of the Choma-Kalomo Block
With Jean-Pierre Bulambo, Joseph Kokonyangi and Simon Johnson
Jean Pierre Bulambo works on his PhD at the University of Lubumbabshi (Congo D.R.) under supervision of Henri Kampunzu.
Zircons from five samples collected from the Choma-Kalomo terrane in southern Zambia have been dated on SHRIMP II so far, and largely confirm the previous age estimates of this province (Hanson et al., 1988)
Jean Pierre Bulambo and Joseph Kokonyangi are preparing whole rock Geochemistry on various lithologies from the Choma-Kalomo block, to help constrain the tectonic setting of the batholithic intrusions.
Simon Johnson is examining the possibility to conduct Lu-Hf work on the dated zircons, using a Laser Ablation ICP setup in Japan.
Simplified geological map of the Choma-Kalomo block. Ages are bulk zircon U-Pb, after Hanson et al. 1988. (Precamb. Res., 42, 39-61)
